Close to 600 parents, students, faith-based leaders, members of community organizations, business representatives and other stakeholders participated in focus group and forum discussions to develop a vision of the future for PUSD students and schools. Community input will be utilized by the Steering Committee to develop recommendations for the Board of Education in March.
Over the next couple of weeks, we will post summaries of the community's input, frequently asked questions, and the final report and recommendations to be presented to the Board of Education. You can also find ways to remain involved with the strategic plan process going forward. See the timeline for revising the Strategic Plan (aquí en español).
Video coverage of community forums, as well as the presentation (aquí en español) are now available online.
The Pasadena Unified Board of Education is revising the district's Strategic Plan to develop a ten-year vision that builds on our schools' accomplishments, sets goals for future achievement, and reflects the perspectives of PUSD's diverse community. Over the past two years, the District's Approach to Excellence initiatives have identified specific areas for urgent reform, while laying a solid foundation for long-term success. The strategic plan process will update the District's vision, mission, and goals and incorporate them into the current direction and priorities.
The Board of Education is committed to an inclusive and authentic engagement process that includes a broad spectrum of PUSD stakeholders. Our goal is to reach at least 500 people through small group meetings, community forums, school events, electronic surveys, email and news media.
Over the next several months, we will work to engage parents/guardians, students, business leaders, non-profit organizations, residents, faith-based leaders, teachers, principals, and civic leaders in a conversation about our children's future. Their ideas and recommendations will help to build strong schools that prepare our students for college and careers.
We will ask the community to answer two questions:
Your input will help us build the future for all PUSD students, so join the conversation! Attend a community forum and take the survey!
